The summer of 2020 was definitely not one to remember for most people. Life seemingly came to a halt, many people lost their jobs, and the world struggled to comprehend the constraints of the pandemic. As for myself, Collin, a 20 year old college student at the time, lost my summer job waiting tables and had to pivot toward a new source of income to ensure I could continue paying for school. This led me to the idea of starting my own produce business. To stand out from the competition, I decided to make my own dill pickles to add a personal flair to my business. Little did I know, but those first dozen jars would change both my life and my brother Gavin’s life forever.

Over time, Gavin took on the pickle business and expanded it beyond just selling at the produce stand. He not only added multiple locations but also expanded our flavors from only dill to hot, old bay, bread & butter, and more! He was 16 years old when he first got involved, and he gave the business its official name: GC Pickles.

A little bit about me, Gavin: I was in a snowboarding accident back in January 2021. As you can imagine, this has greatly impacted my life, but I refuse to let it stop me from pursuing my dreams. On the day of the accident, my brother Collin told me something I will never forget. He said, “Treat your recovery like a business—you will fail many times, but in the end, when you succeed, your hard work will be worth it.” Driven by this, me and my friend Chris stepped in to help grow the business while Collin was off at college, starting his professional career.

To date, we’ve both played integral roles in expanding GC Pickles, and now we’re ready to take it to the next level. Our mission is to provide a top-quality product for our customers by building a successful, family-run business that serves the community. We aim to partner with local establishments, helping them create new revenue streams to stand out from their competition.
